OUR STORY.The Hop House started as a family business run by husband and wife team David Stanway & Christine Hamilton serving NZ's best craft beers along with tasty hamburgers from a historic ex-ice cream parlour in Mt Maunganui in 2015. We quickly grew a reputation for providing excellent service, exciting beers mashed with quirky events culminating in Lonely Planet naming us Best Spot 2017 for bars in the Mount. Unfortunately despite the growing momentum and great reviews, the building was sold to developers and demolished late 2017.

Our People.Christine has a wealth of hospitality experience both here and the UK and brings warmth and a smile to the front of house service.
David is a former top Chef and runs the kitchen and selects the beer. He has been around the craft beer scene since the get-go. Top brewers will alert David to what's good and/or rare, which leads to The Hop House having the very best and latest craft beer available. Our staff are well trained and understand the latest trends, tasting notes etc. and can make good recommendations. |
